Design, Simulation and Prototyping of Model Turbine Engine

SolidWorks Flow Simulation

JetCat Model Turbine
Jet engines have wide use in many applications, aviation, and energy production among many others. The design and construction of a jet engine require a great deal of knowledge from many different fields. From thermodynamics and fluid mechanics to mechanical engineering. A modern jet engine is truly a miracle of engineering.
Although my major of study is not aligned with the studies required to work with these types of complex types of machinery; however, I am very optimistic about my goal and doing my research and learning according to achieve this goal.

My motivation towards this project came from the realization that being in a 3rd world country there are very few people who are concerned about engines and nobody encourages others to learn and build this thing. As I am very enthusiastic about the aeronautical and aerospace industries; I asked myself "Why not I start doing something?

I have formed a team by sharing my thoughts to my friends from other universities. One of them is a Mechanical engineering undergraduate student at CUET and another person is an Industrial and production engineering student at BUET.

We are focusing on simulations to verify our designs using SolidWorks and Ansys as Covid-19 situation proceeds. Initially, the rudimentary flow simulation of the full engine was achieved using SolidWorks fluid flow simulation.
Currently, we are focusing on structural simulation of the compressor wheel and the turbine using different materials including Inconel.
